White Sox trade is sneaky good!

The White Sox are slowly improving their roster and today's trade is impressive.  GM Chris Getz knew he needed pitching help, especially in the bullpen and this move shows the White Sox are going to stay aggressive.  News reports have said the White Sox have acquired RHP Jordan Hicks and Right-Handed Prospect David Sandlin for prospect pitcher Gage Ziehl.

Jordan Hicks' career kind of went off the rails when the San Francisco Giants moved him to a starter role.  He really struggled and was delt to the Red Sox who also tried to make him a starter.  With his 97 MPH fastball, and a wicked slider, Hicks is really suited to be a back of the game bullpen arm.  He is coming off a toe injury and a right shoulder tendinitis, but I really think he shores up the eighth inning role for the White Sox.

David Sandlin was the Red Sox number six prospect according to Baseball America after coming off the Double A and Triple A stint last year wear he threw 106 innings.  Sandlin is a 6'4" 220lbs whose fastball sits mid 90's for seven innings.  If he learns to keep that slider and cutter over the plate for strikes, he may be a steal.  His development timeframe seems to be very close with Hagan Smith and Noah Schultz, which appears to be sooner than later.  With Thorpe and Cannon returning this season, the White Sox are about to have a top half rotation in the American League.

Vegas has the White Sox win total at 64.5 games.  I'm telling you I am taking the over.
